The Midterm Presentation, 1st March 2009
We have briefly introduce the hypothesis and related design problem we are working on. Focus on updating the instructors on the state of our work, then what we intend to do to complete the work.
So I made a overall review of the design development for the past 5 weeks, from the initial idea, the feedback from instructor and research tutor, to the proposals till now, as well as the direction of future work.
Here’s a link to my presentation :

Thanks for posting this material relating to your presentation, Yoyo. It would also be helpful if you could write something about the main points which you were presenting and of the feedback you received, relating these to your further work.
回覆刪除In case it helps, here is a summary of my thoughts from the notes I took during your presentation:
- the ideas you presented for dealing with ventilation and shading by retrofitting an additional 'skin' over the existing facade are interesting, both for ameliorating comfort-related performance issues and for altering the building's image; however, more needs to be done with respect to proposing and implementing a test method for evaluating the design
- the relationship between the measures taken with respect to ventilation and shading is not clear yet, beyond the fact that they co-exist within the proposed 'skin'; also, there was little information presented about how these would react to changes in outdoor conditions and indoor needs
- overall the presentation overemphasized the preceeding work (basically, establishing a research question and formulating some hypotheses to answer it) and gave little evidence of engaging the question experimentally through testing; the remaining weeks' work must therefore strongly concentrate on producing testable models, testing, and feedback to the proposed designs
